The problem
The first version showed parents everything the programme contained. Real parents said the idea was good and the content was overwhelming, which is the polite way of saying they would stop using it.
What we built
- Progressive disclosure: a new parent sees three cards instead of forty eight, with more unlocking as they go
- A language pass across the whole product, rewriting clinical phrasing into something a tired parent can read
- Welcome guide overlay and mood tracking with sensible defaults
- Row level security so each family sees only their own child's data
- A re test loop with the same parents before building anything further
Where it stands
Shipped and back in front of the original parents for validation, with scaling deliberately held until they confirm the fix.
Worth knowing
Cutting forty eight visible cards to three was the whole product decision. Everything else was execution.
